When Archibald Robert Black was born on October 11, 1841, in Butler, Pennsylvania, his father, James, was 26 and his mother, Sarah Olive Kelly was 30. He married Barbara Everette Daubenspeck in 1865. They had one child during their marriage. He died on May 29, 1906, in his hometown at the age of 64, and was buried there.
