Robert Black was born in 1770 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, the son of Elizabeth and Peter. He married Elizabeth Betsey Grossman in 1797 in his hometown. They had one child during their marriage. He died on September 15, 1836, in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, at the age of 66.
